How We've Grown

The Parent Resource Centers of the Palouse are now housed in each of the libraries and branches in both Whitman County / Neil Public, Washington and Latah County, Idaho. The PRC in Whitman County, which serves Pullman, Washington and surrounding rural towns, was created in 1993 to provide families and caregivers with readily available resources at Neill Public Library and the 13 branches of the Whitman County Library system. More than 35 agencies and organizations collaborated to form the original PRC.

In March 2004, through a collaborative partnership with the Young Children and Family Programs of the Palouse, a PRC was established in the Latah County Library District in Latah County, Idaho which serves Moscow and surrounding rural communities. The PRCs in Whitman County were also expanded to provide even more resources to the communities. Parents in the entire Palouse region now have access to more books, magazines, audio materials, and visual materials than ever before. The Parent Resource Centers continue to be sustained by agencies, volunteers, service organizations and grant support.

This expansion was funded by a Federal Department of Health and Human Service Early Learning Opportunities Act grant operated through the Young Children and Family Programs of the Palouse.
